Heroes give children hope, aspiration and motivation for what children can become and achieve.

Children need heroes.  History is written and remembered in the lives of our Heroes from Alexander the Great to Suleiman the Magnificent, from George Washington to Thomas Edison.  Heroes define the culture of Yorktown and come from all races, creeds and nationalities.  Heroes explore, discover, create, build, develop and run our organizations.  Heroes have pro free market attitudes with honest contributions to society.

Heroes can help change the troubled educational culture.  Dean Kamien said that part of the problem with education today is the culture.  To develop or change a culture you need to have heroes who represent the culture's aspirations.

Heroes receive great public relations.  Yorktown will actively promote heroes to students.  Yorktown's goal is more than 500 hero biographies to be promoted to students, at least one new hero every week.

The hero biography series will include background information, challenges overcome and achievements.  These will be unabashedly pro-hero.  Much like “ The Actor's Studio” TV series, the heroes series will have an in person interview with each hero.  Yorktown is willing to air the program series on network TV in exchange for school support (Yorktown is a pro free market educator).  Heroes will have approval of, and a license to use, their biography.

Heroes become part of an elite group.  Yorktown is targeting those with a proven success and an interest in education and Yorktown's philosophy.  Potential heroes are people like Bill and Melinda Gates, Michael Dell, Charles G. Koch, Anousheh Ansari and Robert Johnson.

Yorktown is actively seeking the support of heroes.  In addition to support as an example, heroes provide and receive:

  • Referent models of achievement, examples of diverse starting places and the wide variety of success that is available in life
  • Introductory and referential support
  • School choice political support
  • Opportunities to help fund scholarships and invest in Yorktown Education's private funding opportunities.
